Timeline
History
The Story of the Šoltýs Family and the History of Atmosféra
The story of Atmosféra began long before the establishment of today’s guesthouse and restaurant. Two historic townhouses in the very heart of Loket originally belonged to Professor Weidel, a pharmacist and respected citizen of the town.
After the Second World War, both buildings became state property. Following 1989, they were gradually sold, each separately. Their paths remained divided for several decades before they were eventually reunited under the ownership of one family.
In 1992, Daniela and Marián Šoltýs purchased one of the buildings, which was in very poor condition at the time. Marián began an extensive renovation, carrying out most of the work himself. Step by step, he restored the building, from major construction work to the smallest details of the interior — quite literally with his own hands.
As early as 1993, the family opened their first guest room, marking the beginning of Pension Daniela, named after Daniela Šoltýsová. Additional rooms followed gradually, along with the development of the entire property as it exists today — one step at a time, according to the family’s possibilities.
From the very beginning, Daniela’s mother, Gisela Domelová, also played an important role. Until 2006, she helped prepare breakfast and contributed to the warm, homely atmosphere that characterised the guesthouse in its early years.
From a Guesthouse to Atmosféra
Another important chapter began in 2009, when their son, Mário Šoltýs, became actively involved in the family business.
Together with his father, he renovated the adjoining premises, giving rise to Restaurant Atmosféra.
From that moment, today’s Atmosféra concept gradually began to take shape — bringing together accommodation, gastronomy and genuine family hospitality in one place.
In 2018, the family also opened Café Chesterfield, located just a short distance from the main Atmosféra buildings in the historic centre of Loket.
The café introduced another dimension to the family business, offering speciality coffee, homemade cakes and pastries, and a distinctive setting furnished with elegant Chesterfield furniture.
Two Historic Buildings Reunited
In 2019, the family purchased the neighbouring historic townhouse, which had once formed part of the original property.
After several decades, the two buildings were finally reunited under the ownership of the same family.
An extensive renovation followed, lasting several years and reaching completion in 2025. The project created new guest rooms, additional facilities and further opportunities for the continued development of Atmosféra.
The ground floor of the newly renovated building also became home to our very own coffee roastery, Pražírna Loket.
Today, we roast our own coffee right here in Loket — for our restaurant, our café, the breakfasts served to our guests, and everyone who wishes to take a little taste of Loket home with them.
Atmosféra Remains a Family Business
Even after more than thirty years, Atmosféra remains, above all, a place built and run by a family.
Daniela and Michaela Šoltýsová are responsible, among other things, for our homemade desserts and the breakfasts served to our guests.
After many years dedicated to renovation and construction, founder Marián Šoltýs now focuses primarily on maintaining the historic buildings and ensuring a regular supply of fresh ingredients.
Daniela continues to play an active role in the everyday life of Atmosféra.
Mário Šoltýs leads the kitchen. Alongside the restaurant’s daily culinary operations, he creates and organises special dining experiences and gourmet events, including our popular Seafood Weekends, Valentine’s Day menus and other seasonal specialities.
His wife, Michaela Šoltýsová, oversees the operations of the restaurant, guesthouse and café, ensuring that everything runs smoothly each day.
Another member of the family’s story is Diana Šoltýsová, the daughter of Marián and Daniela, who has chosen her own artistic path and works in acting and directing.
And in 2020, the next generation of the family was born. Whether they will one day carry on the family tradition remains to be seen.
Our Story Continues
Atmosféra was not created from a single grand plan, nor was it built in just a few years.
It is the result of more than thirty years of dedication, hard work and passion shared by several generations of one family.
What began with a single guest room gradually grew into a guesthouse, a restaurant, a café, two reunited historic townhouses and, finally, our very own coffee roastery.
Although Atmosféra has changed and evolved many times over the years, one thing has always remained the same:
Our greatest wish is for our guests to feel at home, take wonderful memories with them and always look forward to returning to Loket.
Thank you for being part of our story.
